Chargehand, Welding
  • To work closely together with the assigned supervisor to ensure that all assigned projects work is executed safely, on time, and within budget in accordance with the contract and IMI's Management System.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Ensure all project works are executed safely on time and within schedule.

  • • Responsible for coordinating and supervision of removal, repair, Nesting/prefabrication, installation (fit up, welding and lifting), testing of Structural project works.

  • • Ensure all the work is carried out in line with approved drawings and method statements.

  • • Verifying dimensions, measurements, cutting and preparation for welding

  • • Prepare, submit, monitor, and control project technical queries and coordinate and supervise the daily activities of gangs/site operatives.

  • • Supervising and managing the site construction activities carried out in-house and subcontractor and ensure timely completion of works, fulfilling all quality and safety aspects and targets.

  • • Ensure that labor resources are effectively and efficiently utilized in accordance with the project schedule.

  • • Plan or adjust work hours to meet the production schedules and maintain time and production records.

  • • Conducting safety and daily toolbox meetings, as well as explaining the risks associated with the job.

  • • Responsibilities also include work permit administering.

  • • Be aware of schedule opportunities and liaise with the construction manager and production engineer on possible potential areas of risk or reward.

  • • Coordinate technical issues relating to engineering design between customers and the project.

  • • Investigate labor and other productivity variances and report to the Project Engineer / Manager.

  • • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) responsibilities.

  • • Ensures that the work assigned, and the subcontractor are completed on time and with adequate qualified skilled labor, and plant.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical Diploma in welding or equivalent qualification (Welding apprentice)

  • Certified 4G, and 6G / 6GR welder (ABS/Class Certified).

  • T-BOSIET and H2S Certifications.

EXPERIENCE
  • At least 6-12 years of experience in the Oil and Gas, Shipyard/Ship repair Industry.

  • Ability for supervising structural work (Gouging, cutting, grinding, fitting for welding etc.) for fabrication, installation, removal, and repair works.

  • Good knowledge in construction safety and permit to work procedures including quality issues.

  • Perform hydro testing and pneumatic testing’s process.

  • Ability to generate daily reports of work conducted and generate reports in a timely manner.

  • Ability to lead and manage a team.

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Knowledge in MS office.

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, As-built drawings, sketches, WPS, ITP, PRQ, written and verbal instructions
