MRO General Manager Production
  • The General Manager of Production at IMI Shipyard is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the production process within the shipyard (Zone A). This includes managing the production team, optimizing production processes, ensuring quality standards are met, and achieving production targets. The General Manager will play a vital role in driving operational excellence, improving efficiency, and delivering high-quality products and reporting to VP MRO .

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.

  • Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth production flow.

  • Monitor and track production progress to identify potential bottlenecks or delays and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.

  • Allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, effectively to optimize production efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of required materials and equipment for production activities.

  • Conduct regular assessments of resource needs and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments as necessary.

  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure adherence to product specifications and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to develop and maintain quality procedures and guidelines.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to monitor production quality and address any non-conformities promptly.

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of production supervisors and workers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • Provide guidance and support to the production team, including training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

  • Identify training and development needs within the team and implement appropriate initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and policies within the production area.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a safety-conscious culture among staff.

  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance production efficiency.

  • Encourage and facilitate innovation and creativity among the production team to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with other departments to implement best practices and adopt new technologies or methodologies.

Education
  • Bachelor Engineering Degree or equivalent.

  • Professional Project Management Qualifications (ie: PMP) preferred.

  • Marine related professional qualifications or relevant time served.

Experience
  • At least 20+ years of experience in offshore building industry including jack-up rig / tender barge new build projects, 5 years of which must be in managerial capacity.

  • Held similar positions before in established global shipyards.

  • Strong track record relevant to project management and leadership experience, preferably from the oil and gas offshore industry.

Competencies

• In Depth knowledge of Production management and its operational breakdowns and details in MRO shipyard environments

• knowledge In: Fabrication and Construction Methods, Construction Engineering, Welding and Manufacturing Processes, Design and Detail Engineering, Relevant international standards including ASME, API, ANSI, BSI etc, Contracts and Legal Requirements, Planning and Scheduling, Health Safety and Environment management, Construction Documentation, Estimating and Quotation

• Communication – must be a strong communicator who listens, seeks to understand, and then communicates effectively to be understood. • Team management – must excel at administering and coordinating groups of individuals by promoting teamwork, delegating effectively, resolving conflicts, setting goals, evaluating performance, and using positive and corrective feedback where appropriate.

• Scheduling – must work collaboratively with all stakeholders and support functions to develop realistic schedules, manage resources to achieve contract deliveries and to meet project objectives on budget and on time.

• Negotiation – must be able to resolve conflict with the intent to achieve win-win scenarios.

• Critical thinking – must be a decision maker with the ability to think creatively and to be objective when analyzing and evaluating an issue or situation, in order to reach an unbiased judgment. • Risk management – must identify risks in advance, develop effective risk mitigation plans and then to successfully mitigate those risks.

• Cost management – must monitor and control departmental costs, collaborating closely with reporting departments.

• Quality management – must monitor the status of departmental audit findings, review and implement OFIs where appropriate, and ensure the timely rectification and close out of NCRs by the reporting departments. Furthermore, must lead the update, origination and/or maintenance of departmental policies, processes,and procedures.

• The ability to adapt in an ever changing and dynamic environment of MRO and ability to manage stress.
