JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
To ensure that all material coordination, control, and related activities are executed safely, effectively, and efficiently in accordance with applicable technical requirements, company policies and procedures. To support Quality and Production departments for the efficient flow of material according to Project and Shipping schedule or department priorities, while ensuring that manual/computerized records are maintained in accordance with Company Policy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Follow all relevant department policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• Develop and maintain documentations, procedures, and systems necessary to ensure that material needs, and requirements are effectively met, including the preparation of material management plan when necessary.
• Responsible for monitoring the storage of materials in storage location, ensuring that all requirements for storage (including controlled storage, where applicable), A/C & light system explosion proof, etc. are adhered to.
• Plans and conduct surveillance audit on stored materials, and report accordingly ensuring the company wide HSEQ standards, policies and procedures are applied.
• Monitor incoming material quality and ensure the materials conform to the specifications and/or other applicable requirements.
• Ensure that project dossier including vendor material documents are compiled, reviewed, and approved prior to submission.
• Reviews bid documentation as assigned by the QC Manager, highlighting the cost related to material management and handling requirement. Assist in identifying non-standard/sub-standard material requirements or other potential areas of concern.
• Liaise with project management team, client, other department like Production, Planning and Engineering etc. to ensure material storage related risks and opportunities are communicated during bid & tendering stage, and then project execution phase.
• Interpret relevant codes, standards, and specification applicable to material selection, handling and overall management, and implementation of this requirements in the day-to-day management of different kinds of materials.
• Basic knowledge in painting, corrosion and preservation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Diploma degree in technical engineering or equivalent. Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
• Certificate from either ASTM or ASME of material management courses or equivalent training program.
• BGAS Grade II / NACE Level II or Equivalent.
• ISO 9001:2015 Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Communicate (written & oral) in the English language with confidence.
• Good HSE knowledge and skills relative to the role.
• Excellent listening skills, assertiveness, and ability to coach subordinates.
• Physically fit and able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
• Able to perceive the mood of a customer or subcontractor and react appropriately.
• Able to read, understand and interpret Engineering drawings.
• Resilience under stress.
• Demonstrate ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical and well-thought-out manner.
• Ability to differentiate between the storage and handling requirements of different grades/types of materials.
• Basic knowledge of materials. • Good knowledge of Quality Management System.
• Good knowledge of MS Office tools for reporting and spreadsheets.
• Excellent knowledge of documentation, computer operation, procedures & applicable ERP systems. Experience
• For bachelor holders at least 3-9 years’ experience, for diploma holders at least 11-15 years’ experience relating to quality works of marine engineering industries (ship & rig - buildings). Languages • English. • Arabic.
