Job Purpose
The position holder plays a crucial role in leading and executing the strategic direction and technology roadmap for smart yard initiatives, focusing on managing and delivering intelligent digital solutions to enhance shipyard operations. It involves identifying and driving innovative approaches to business challenges, collaborating with various business functions to implement customer-centric smart yard solutions that generate revenue and profit. This role serves as a focal point for smart yard execution within IMI, aligning and operationalizing these solutions while building external partnerships with vendors, partners, and customers to integrate external expertise. The position holder also oversees project planning and implementation, ensuring organizational alignment for successful digital transformation. Additionally, it may involve leadership over research teams and partnerships with strategic partners and universities.
Key Accountabilities
• Leads the development and execution of smart yard digitalization programs, ensuring alignment with IMI’s strategic goals.
• Develops and implements the smart yard digitalization roadmap and strategy that focuses on generating revenue, achieving cost savings, and enhancing operational efficiency.
• Oversees the evaluation, development, and commercialization of intellectual property related to smart yard digitalization projects.
• Collaborates with various business functions to ensure that smart yard plans are integrated into their operational strategies and aligned with corporate objectives.
• Coordinates closely with Information Technology and Information Security functions to ensure that core business information processes support smart yard initiatives.
• Manages and monitors smart yard projects and dashboards, ensuring alignment with business objectives and providing clear visibility into project progress.
• Provides guidance on intellectual property matters and works closely with the Legal function to safeguard IMI’s interests.
• Leads the evaluation and selection of digital technologies for shipyard operations and drives the implementation of smart yard initiatives, including digital twin and metaverse projects.
• Promotes a culture of innovation by fostering an environment for coaching and developing talents within the function, with a focus on nurturing younger professionals.
• Builds and maintains external partnerships with vendors, customers, and strategic partners to bring in expertise and accelerate smart yard advancements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent.
Professional Qualifications
Proven extensive experience in shipbuilding, rig building, or the offshore industry, with relevant exposure to major technology providers or industry-related digitalization initiatives involving AI, IIoT, blockchain, or equivalent.
Experience
At least 15-20 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years of experience as a managerial level with full responsibility for supervising major digitalization projects within the shipyard, offshore industry, or a related field.
Languages
Thoroughly proficient in written and spoken English.

• Excellent analytical, decision-making, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to manage workload under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale digital transformation projects in an industrial setting, from strategy development to execution.
