Technician, Rigger
The role hoider is responsible for performing rigging, slinging and load handling operations safely and efficiently in accordance with given instructions and safety requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Timely identification of hazards and risks in Lifting and transportation operations in which he/she is involved in review and support documentation preparation and coming up with mitigation proposals.
Cost conscious approach for utilization of equipment and manpower. Timely reporting of all work- related matters to Division & Department Management
Identification of improvement opportunities in Lifting and transportation operations to optimize cost and utilization and increase life cycle.
Lead riggers, slingers and other workforce assigned to him to successful accomplishment of load handling objectives.
Take complete charge of all safety and quality pertaining to rigging of the load, tagging the load (when possible), selection of rigging tools and equipment according to lifting plans and rigging drawings.
Suggests alternative rigging solutions when such is required for more effective and safe handling of the load.
Oversees inspection and maintenance of the rigging tools and equipment including load and functional tests.
Performs front end maintenance as required.
Responsible for ensuring that all the requirements (which include method statement, risk assessment, Lifting, rigging study and equipment to use) are adequately defined and for ensuring that the company can meet the operation, projects/contracts requirements.
Ensures proper licensing and inspections are kept current and coordinates the necessary maintenance and repairs of equipment with L&R supervisor, TS inspection division and Maintenance team.
Stop unsafe activity and report any potential hazards to L&R foreman, supervisor, and safety team.
Provides input for daily work sheets / crane time sheet for each project.
Ensuring that all requirements / documents/permits are available before executing the operation.
Must be able to work in a standard field environment (being aware of your surroundings and operations going on around you, Forklift / manlift size and required area for movement / operation).
Helps to train local workforce as required and shares his knowledge with the team.
Support the Superintendents & L&R Manager with planning and maximizing utilization & performance of department resources.
Other duties as assigned by L&R Foreman, Supervisor, Superintendent, Manager & GM of TMS.
Heavy duty work (lifting, pushing, pulling 22.5kg (50 lbs.)).
QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma technical degree or equivalent.
Certified as Rigger is a strong advantage or adequate experience.
Certified as crane operator is an advantage
EXPERIENCE
At least 6-9 years of working experience in similar roles in construction /shipyard industries.
Understand periodic maintenance and able to perform operator driven maintenance himself.
SPMT/Jacking experience is an advantage.
Work well under pressure.
Good physical / fitness and health condition as the job contain a lot of manual handling
