Your future role & Job Purpose

Job Purpose:

  • Lifting & Rigging Supervisor responsible for managing safe and efficient lifting or transfer operations in accordance with Company Policy, Quality Safety & Environmental Management System, and International Standards.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:

  • Timely identification of hazards and risks in Lifting and transportation operations in which he/she is involved in review and support documentation preparation and coming up with mitigation proposals. 

  • Cost conscious approach for utilization of equipment and manpower. Timely reporting of all work- related matters to Division & Department Management. 

  • Identification of improvement opportunities in Lifting and transportation operations to optimize cost and utilization and increase life cycle. Accountability and initiative taken for managing, maintaining, and improving the IMI's health, safety, and environmental performance. 

  • Preparation of lifting plans in conjunction with Lifting Engineer according to load handling requirements and available crane / lifting equipment. 

  • Leading of assigned foremen, crew members and contractors to successful completion of project's Lifting & Rigging requirements. 

  • Assisting foremen in distributing teams and assigning daily tasks based on operational priorities. 

  • Support the Superintendents & L&R Manager with planning and maximizing utilization & performance of department resources. 

  • Work closely with Technical Services HSE team to engineer out potential hazards, to provide a safe working environment, for all employees. 

  • Review and confirm that all safety & operational requirements are completed & checked prior to conducting any lifting or transfer operation. 

  • Awareness/knowledge of applicable Regulations, National and International standards such as ISO, BS EN, ASME, LEEA, LOLER, and other recognizing bodies approved code of practice ACOP and ensure that lifting and rigging activities performed are compliant. 

  • Support / Review lift and rigging plan / forms in conjunction with the lifting and Rigging Engineers for cranes and their load calculation along with sling and shackle arrangements.

  •  Provide lifting expertise and guidance to Lifting Engineers, Lifting supervisors, and senior planning management. 

  • Responsible for ensuring that all the requirements (which include method statement, risk assessment, Lifting, rigging study and equipment to use) are adequately defined and for ensuring that the company can meet the operation, projects / contracts requirements. 

  • Ensure that all lifting and rigging tools being used for the job are within their SWL, duly certified and operational. 

  • Support department management as required in effective recruitment, selection, training, and certification of personnel; appraising performance; rewarding and counselling His / Her team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems with participation of Technical Services Management. 

  • Ensure continual process improvement of lifting, rigging and related processes. 

  • Helps to train local workforce as required and shares his knowledge with the team. 

  • Other tasks as assigned by Lifting and Rigging Superintendent, Manager and General Manager Technical Services.

Who we are looking for

Education:

  • Diploma degree or equivalent.

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Construction, Marine Engineering or equivalent

Experience:

  • For diploma holder 11-15 years' experience, for bachelor's holder 3- 9 experience in a similar role within shipbuilding or relevant industry.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Appointed person in Lifting - LEEA Certified (preferred).

  • Lifting certifications such as Rigger 1, Lifting supervisor are desirable.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and other lifting software is a plus.

  • Thorough understanding of Engineering, planning & executing of lifting services in accordance with international lifting standards & practice (Example: LOLER). Knowledge of ERP systems & Asset Management Systems.

  • The ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, across a broad range of technologies and implement training programs.

  • Resilient under stress and capable of managing competing priorities.

  • Articulate in his speech and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Be Physically active and able to complete a full medical assessment.

  • Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority.

  • Computer proficient with strong leadership skills.

  • English will be the primary form of communication.
