Your future role & Job Purpose

Job Purpose:

Field Engineer - Basin/Sink Pit Marine Activities is responsible for all the technical inputs which are required/effective for the safe & efficient operation of the marine activities being conducted within the basin of the yard including both the sink pits and helping ensure it is maintained in accordance with company policy and complies with government regulation.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:

  • Presides over all the technical/engineering matters pertaining to the daily operations of marine activities in the IMI Basin. Leading the implementation of safety and efficient planning, & continuous improvement of strategies.

  • Review drawings and specifications for determining safe marine activities strategy. Liaise with other departments of AMMO and functions of IMI.

  • Overall control over technical inputs for operational activities within the area under control ensuring execution of the activities is done in safe manner as per the approved IMI procedure.

  • Support the Production & Project Managers with planning for maximizing utilization & performance of marine assets, structures & associated resources.

  • Ensure facilities and associated equipment are maintained in accordance with company policy and comply with government regulatory requirements.

  • Control allocated operational budget and assist with the development of budgetary/CAPEX forecasts.

  • Support the Human Resources Department with effective recruitment & selection of personnel.

  • Lead/Participate, as applicable, in the development and continuous review of operating procedures for various marine activities within the yard and basin.

  • Work closely with HSE to engineer out potential hazards, to provide a safe working environment, for all employees.

  • Work closely with Harbour Services (Pilots, Tugs etc.) planning movements, dry-docking & berthing operations.

Internal Interactions: 

  • AMMO’s various departments & other IMI functions.

External Interactions:

  • As required by company requirement

Who we are looking for

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • At least 3-9 years of experience in related marine activities such as loadouts, launchings, floating, berthing, mooring etc. within the shipbuilding industry.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Basic firefighting/Elementary first aid, preferred.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • CAD and Computer proficient with strong leadership & management skills.

  • Understanding of Asset Management and IFS systems, and relevant ISO standards. Knowledge of SOLAS & IMO regulations, Classification & Flag State Requirements.

  • Good presentation skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Be Physically active and able to complete a full medical assessment.

  • Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority.

  • Resilient under stress and capable of managing competing priorities.

Languages:

  • Good English Communication Skills (oral and written)
