Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within an IMI's facilities. This role involves analyzing electrical issues, developing maintenance strategies, overseeing electrical projects, and providing technical expertise in electrical engineering. The Electrical Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to optimize facility performance, ensure compliance with regulations, and drive continuous improvement in electrical maintenance practices. 

Key Accountabilities
  • Perform regular inspections and assessments of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and related equipment. 

Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and reliability of electrical systems. 

  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot electrical failures or malfunctions, identifying and implementing appropriate corrective measure

Collaborate with maintenance technicians and contractors to plan and execute repairs, replacements, and upgrades of electrical components and systems. 

  • Identify opportunities to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability of electrical systems through optimization, retrofitting, or the implementation of advanced technologies. 

  • Analyze energy consumption data, perform energy audits, and propose initiatives to reduce energy usage and associated costs. 

  • Collaborate with energy management teams to implement energy-saving strategies and monitor their effectiveness. 

  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to electrical systems and equipment. 

  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering and maintenance. 

  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections or audits to verify compliance with electrical-related requirements. 

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including maintenance records, equipment manuals, and safety procedures, to support compliance efforts. 

  • Manage electrical maintenance projects, including equipment installations, retrofits, and upgrades. 

  • Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. 

  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making for electrical projects and investments. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams, external contractors, and vendors to procure equipment, materials, and services required for project implementation. 

  • Provide technical support to maintenance technicians and other stakeholders regarding electrical systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices. 

  • Develop and conduct training programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of maintenance personnel in electrical maintenance and safety protocols. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, civil engineers, technicians, and contractors, to ensure effective coordination of maintenance activities. 

  • Communicate and coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as facility managers and operations teams, to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide technical expertise. 

Qualifications & Experience
  • Education:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field a relevant field or similar qualifications. 

  • Professional Qualifications:

Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Project Management Certification are highly desirable. 

  • Experience:

At least 3-8 years' experience and knowledge in Electrical engineering roles, preferably in a related industry. 

  • Languages:

Very Good command of English & Arabic.
