Senior Technician, Electrical & Instrumentation
  • Senior Electrical Technician is responsible to safely, timely and cost-effectively lead the performance of all electrical related maintenance day to day activities as per the asset management plans to achieve asset management objectives and therefore achieve IMI strategic objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Adhere to regulations, quality, security, and safety standards.

  • Carry out diagnosis of faults, the maintenance, and repairs to all types of shipyard’s material handling and lifting equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return assets to operational service.

  • Carry out preventive maintenance scheduled and planned work orders as required and provide feedback to improve the program efficiency.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, wiring diagrams, and other specifications, as required, to determine and correctly follow installation procedures.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair all types of HV and LV electrical & control systems failures including PLC controllers, analog and digital I/O, VFDs, transformers, motors (AC/ DC), contactors, sensors, limit switches, power modules, etc. (but not limited to).

  • Safely shut down electrical & instrumentation systems and/or equipment to allow for inspections, renovations, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.

  • Supports on-call response as needed.

  • Log completion of work and enter adequate work orders history data into IFS.

  • Work within 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain workplace to a high standard.

  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.

  • Lead, undertake and support continuous training and development for young trainees and apprentices & train people within own work group.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical Diploma in Electrical & Instrumentation or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 9 - 12 years of hands-on experience in shipyards/offshore or similar industries

  • Experience with semi-automated/automated shipyard assets such as material handling/ lifting equipment, production equipment, etc. (but not limited to).

  • Working knowledge of OSHA and/or NEBOSH standards and practices is a must.

  • Good computer skills in MS Office.

  • Understanding of HSEQ practices.

  • Knowledge of shipyard assets’ maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.

  • Understanding engineering, scientific and other technical information.

  • Excellent trouble shooting and maintenance knowledge of shipyard equipment related to PLC, VFD, Control systems, I/O Signals, material handling/ lifting equipment, Tower/Gantry/EOT Cranes, production equipment, electrical/electronic/instrumentation, and control systems (but not limited to).

  • Advanced problem-solving skills

  • Excellent team working skills.

  • Ability to train self and cascade knowledge to others.

  • Good understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.

  • Excellent trouble shooting skills on electrical & instrumentation control systems.
