Your future role & Job Purpose

Job Purpose:

The role holder will be responsible for handling all project and non-project materials, tools and equipment issued to Lifting, Rigging and M&E shops for operational needs. He / She ensures storage requirements are adhered to, keeps inventory, controls issuance, minimum stock levels (MSL), receives back used items (e.g. PPE, tools) and manages their further processing as well as all other in compliance with Integrated Management System and International Standards.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:

  • Works closely with Project and PSCM teams to ensure and plan properly for incoming projects, materials storage availability, strategic utilization of available space etc.

  • Works with Lifting & Rigging and M&E Shop management to identify and requisition required tools, consumables other materials and their Minimum Stock Levels (MSL), required storage space /conditions.

  • Reviews MTO's and BOM's on engineering drawings and compares them with the issued materials from projects for any missing on discrepant materials.

  • Acts as liaison between Technical Services teams and rest of the IMI organization in terms of materials.

  • Provide Materials Management expertise to Technical Services Management and IMI as required.

  • Author and maintain required procedures, work instructions and other documentation for materials control.

  • Help and Lead Technical Services teams in arrangement of materials inspections, preservation activities, material handling and other activities required for safe and efficient materials management.

  • Train local work force and share knowledge with the team as required by Technical Services Management.

  • Ensure continual process improvement across all operations of Technical Services.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Who we are looking for

Education

  • Diploma degree in engineering or equivalent.

Professional Qualifications:

  • ERP systems training (or experience)

  • Forklift operator training (side loader, electric forklifts, diesel forklifts)

  • Overhead crane operation (on job training)

Experience

  • At least 6-11 years' experience in a similar role within shipbuilding or construction industry.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Thorough understanding of Materials Management systems

  • Knowledge and experience with Shipyard and Rig building materials

  • Knowledge of excel and capability to develop material control worksheets.

  • Understanding of preservation philosophies for various types of materials

  • Resilient under stress and capable of managing competing priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills .

  • Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority.

  • Strong leadership skills .

  • Analytic thinking skills, ability to perform Root Cause Analysis .

Languages:

  • English will be the primary form of communication.

  • Arabic is strong advantage
