Job Purpose:

Lead the Hull Outfitting discipline in Machinery Outfitting division and manage day to day activities of the overall detail/production drawings in Ship Building.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead the Hull Outfitting discipline in the assigned project(s).

• Oversee a team of hull outfitting designers while carrying out design engineering and 3D modelling.

• Execute Engineering activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study, Detail & Production Design).

• Preparation and review of P&ID’s system during calculation.

• Guidance in the preparation of Plot plans, Equipment layouts, piping layouts and reviewing.

• Guidance and review of the Design calculations, Piping Stress Analysis.

• Preparation of Design basis, Project specific specifications for ship building projects involving Basic / Detail engineering. Feasibility studies and Tender document preparation.

• Material engineering which includes preparation of Purchase specifications, Purchase requisitions, technical bid analysis, Supplier document / drawing evaluation after order.

• Construction engineering activities including MTO’s, shop drawings and job package preparation and issue.

• Co-ordination with Internal Departments, Customers & Inspection Agencies.

• Ensure that designs comply with the relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.

• Progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.

• Attending project review meetings.

• Responsible for change management and trend notifications.

• Monitor budget compliance of design deliverable production.

• Ensure Compliance to HSES policies and procedures as applicable.

• Activity planning, work assignment, work scheduling and monitoring. Inter disciplinary checks & co-ordination.

• Ensure Compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures.

Who we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or Naval Architecture Engineering or equivalent.

• Preferred – Any additional certification / courses in mechanical engineering.

• Sound knowledge of International marine Rules & Regulations (IMO convention, Codes etc.), Classification Society Rules, Flag state national Rules, Industrial standards & guidelines.

• Knowledge/Exposure to 2D AutoCAD and 3D design tools like AVEVA.

• Knowledge/Exposure to equipment sizing and calculations in ships.

• Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment.

• Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others regarding continuous improvement.

• At least 9-15 years in engineering department of any ship building industry.

• Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English.
