Job Purpose

We are looking to hire Manager, Rigs Project Engineering,

This job role is to ensure to lead engineering activities for Rig building Projects handled by Engineering Function.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:

The Manager, Rigs Project Engineering who will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Manage the Engineering functions for the department as assigned (Rig building or Ship building or MRO engineering).

  • Working experience in managing of engineers and guidance where required, in discipline related calculations and reports.

  • Develop and structure the department’s engineering capabilities for the Discipline in line with the work-stream’s strategic development plan, recognizing that engineering services are required in multiple locations for different type of projects.

  • Assist the department general manager in development and implementation of process and procedures and ERP/CAD system implementation in the engineering.

  • Ensure that all engineering resources for the discipline are effectively and efficiently employed and ensure that the duplication of resources across facilities is avoided.

  • Plan the human resources for the discipline and deploy the resources as required over various facilities and projects.

  • Select and manage appropriate engineering software for the discipline and ensure its effective and efficient utilization.

  • Monitor and ensure achievement of key performance indicators for the engineering discipline.

  • Ensure Customer’s technical engineering requirements are identified and understood and ensure that the Discipline meets its contractual obligations from an engineering perspective in all instances.

  • Review basic designs provided by third parties for Engineering Procurement Construction projects to ensure the designs meet the Customer’s performance criteria.

  • Support projects and production ensuring that engineering deliverables are provided in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that engineering considers construction methods and efficiency.

  • Manage the subcontractors when engineering activities are outsourced or subcontracted.

  • Establish and ensure the use of standard engineering details for the discipline.

  • Contribute to the professional development of employees with by providing training and mentoring.

  • Support the commercial team and provide technical assistance when required for Bids and Proposals.

  • Ensure quality and accuracy of the engineering deliverables for the discipline and ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) responsibilities.

Working Relationships:

Internal Interactions: 

  • Internal Engineering Department, other business work-streams within the company, Division Head, Engineering Manager, General Manager.

External Interactions:

  • Customers, Suppliers, Subcontractors, Consultants, Inspection Agencies.

Who we are looking for

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Structural/Naval Architecture/Electrical) or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 15 + years in any engineering company. Preference will be given for those had worked in ship and rig building yard, major construction yard, EPC contractor and/or Consultant Company.

Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations):

  • Preferred – Any additional certification / courses in Engineering and Project Management.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Sound knowledge of International Design Codes & Standards, Maritime Regulations and Class Rules.

  • Design experience in engineering calculations in marine industry - Rig building/ Ship building.

  • Exposure to design software as required.

  • Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others with regards to continuous improvement.

  • Ability to manage internal processes against Customer’s expectations.

  • Excellent negotiation skills for high valued technically &commercially complex projects.

  • Experience of leading technical contract meeting with Customer for new contracts.

  • Ability to understand market data analytics, news, trends and translate these into design.

  • Good communication and presentation skills (both written &verbal) with ability to interact across multiple disciplines.
