Your future role & Job Purpose

Job Purpose:

  • The Dry Docks Manager is responsible for the cost-efficient management of the marine activities of the three IMI Drydocks in line with the international & local regulations and standards related to the field. He shall ensure, Company’s Policies, corporate KPIs, vision and Quality Management system are met.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:

  • The Drydocks Manager shall overall manage cost-efficiently the Marine activities related to the three IMI graving docks to serve MRO and shipbuilding activities.

  • Overall Manage asset reliability/availability risks that could adversely affect the business by ensuring smooth coordination with Asset Management team for the day-to-day preventive maintenance activities, report any breakdown failure and by recommending measures to prevent failures reoccurrence.

  • Ensure all Dry docks are adequately resourced, and have in place appropriate procedures, processes and standards and updated when required.

  • Propose and implement improvement measures that may generate cost saving, operation optimization, raise the quality of services and IMI overall competitivity and reputation,

  • Comply with IMI Policies & Procedures and values.

  • Coordinate with the different IMI function for any requirements to ensure work activities are done safely and environmentally friendly with zero tolerance.

  • Overall supervise the preparation of diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports through the marine operations team and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Lead the procurement process of new assets, tools, equipment, and consumables. This includes technical selection, commissioning, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) to assure adherence to functional specifications.

  • Assisting the Asset management and Marine Operations GM and VP in any corporate projects assigned to the function.

  • Attending meetings at different levels to report and update about the Marine Operation task and activities.

  • Management of key relationships between the IMI and its customers, suppliers, and employees

  • Ensuring full compliance with international guidelines, codes, regulations, and standards in force and related to the Marine Operation.

  • Ensure the docking facilities, its structures and its machinery are in good operational condition.

  • Review and approve Operation procedures, check list, guidelines, manuals, and other operational documents related to the docking/undocking operations.

  • Build up the Dry Docks Department capabilities in term of manpower recruitment, training, and development.

  • Promote and implement a strong safety culture for all Marine Operations team under his command and ensure they are adhering to company safety regulations and are fully briefed on all safety requirements.

  • Ensure waste management and pollution control measures are followed as per relevant IMI procedures.

  • Coordinate and support other IMI Functions, Departments, and divisions within the scope of his duty to allow on time best quality service given to the Clients.

  • Represent IMI as required at internal or external meetings.

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of IMI Business plans.

  • Contribute to achieving IMI goals and KPIs at corporate, function departmental and individual levels.

Who we are looking for

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering / Naval Architecture / Mechanical Engineering or another related field of studies.

  • Preferably, having a post-graduate degree in management or business-related discipline or a senior marine qualification or relevant degree.

Experience:

  • At least 15-18 years in Marine industry work experience, including 5 years’ experience in management role (Manager or Dept. Manager) in a dynamic shipyard, with extensive experience handling Drydocking activities.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Marine professional Certificates (such as COC or OOW) are recommended.

  • Basic STCW Certifications preferrable

  • It is a plus to have PMP or Port Operation diploma or NEBOSH.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority.

  • Well-developed presentation skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to manage large multi-disciplinary teams, across a broad range of technologies.

  • General knowledge on the different aspects of dry docking in line with industry standards including class. Flag and other regulatory/statutory requirements

  • Proven ability to solve operational problems without supervision and deliver effective results to internal clients.

  • Understanding of ERP systems, and relevant ISO standards.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

  • Experience in working with diverse cultures.

Languages:

  • Excellent English communication Skills (verbal and writing)

  • Arabic language is a plus.
