NBR Production Engineer (Coating)
  • To assist Superintendent for all coating work for new build rigs. To ensure that all aspects of painting activities comply as per project requirements. To be involved in creating work packs and planning of daily works and interfacing with all departments for completion of painting works in conjunction with hot works completion. To ensure projects are completed safely, on time.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supervise and monitor the progress of painting works in enclosed and open areas. To ensure paint standards are as per approved project specifications.

  • Liaise with paint vendor and client representatives for all necessary planning and on-site coordination.

  • To be able to prepare paint mappings and provide estimation of paint usage by projects.

  • Contribute ways to mitigate reworks for painting. To plan sequence of painting works to be time and cost effective.

  • To establish manpower as per project schedule requirements and to plan for all equipment and facilities required to execute works.

  • To plan for paint preservation where applicable with regards to climatic conditions.

  • To ensure safety and quality of work for painters (in-house and sub-contractors) assigned under the person’s responsibility).

  • Have weekly schedule coordination meetings with all subcontractor foremen to outline requirements of work completion, and other issues as may be required including but not limited to manpower requirements, interference coordination, inspections, and sequence of work. Distribute three-week look ahead schedules and communicate schedule requirements with all subcontractors.

  • Possess strong initiative around decision making and ability to conceptualize plans and technical solutions to deal with a wide array of standard and innovative construction issues.

  • Implement, monitor, and drive the project schedule. Promptly notify management team of schedule and performance issues, be proactive in anticipating potential problems that may impact the project performance.

  • Should possess strong knowledge and understanding of shipyard HSEQ regulations and rig building job certification requirements and ensure the same is communicated to the project team on a regular basis.

  • Identify the work priorities, focus on the critical path, analyze the work problems in writing with own problem-solving mentality, accurate supervision, decision-maker with a strong convincing personality, full readiness with 'Plan B' for any unexpected issues.

  • Fully responsible for delivery of all Inspection Test Records (ITR’s) under the relevant discipline by effectively delegating to the foreman and chargehands. This must be approached with a high focus on interfacing and coordination with all other discipline supervision to remove all blocks from achieving target dates.

Qualification
  • Bachelor Engineering Degree or equivalent.

  • Certification in the related field (is a plus)

Experience
  • At least 9 - 12 years of experience in shipyard and preferably involved in offshore activities and/or rig building.

  • Experienced in handling rig building and similar offshore related projects which are of high value and with technical complexities.
