The Finance Controller is responsible and accountable for managing the following core finance functions and ensuring these serve the business to meet its requirements working across all work streams. Note it is not possible to list these in order of importance and they are interlinked and are largely managed in parallel.
• Financial Reporting & Accounting
o Manage the month end process and provide monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual reports, both internally to the business and to the equity partners
o Accountable to ensure that the Financial Statements reconcile and reflect a true and fair representation of the business.
• International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Accounting Standards & Concepts
o Accountable to ensure that the financial accounts are maintained to current IFRS standards and that future changes in accounting rules and regulations are implemented within statutory timeframes
• Financial Systems
o Responsible for the integrity of the data in the financial systems while maintaining the framework within including chart of accounts and master financial data.
• Accounts Payable
o Responsible for ensuring that the transactional data flow is recorded in the financial accounting system and that the supply chain is managed with timely payments due for invoices and amounts owed.
• Accounts Receivable
o Responsible for ensuring that the transactional data flow is recorded in the financial accounting system and that clients are invoiced with timely payments collected to manage cash flows.
• Asset Management
o Responsible for ensuring that fixed, intangible, and tangible assets are recorded in the financial accounting system.
• Payroll & Expenses
o Responsible for ensuring that employees are paid within contracted monthly timeframes and the appropriate costs are recorded in the Financial Accounting systems.
• Taxation and Zakat
o Responsible to ensure that taxation and Zakat is correctly recorded, accrued with returns completed and Tax paid over as stipulated by the government.
• Audit and Government Returns
o Manage the half and year-end Audit process, lead with the external auditors and facilitate equity partner audits as required.
o Responsible to ensure that all government returns completed as stipulated while ensuring accuracy.
