Job Purpose:

We are looking to hire a Lifting & Rigging Manager who will be responsible for but not limited to:

This job role is to ensure managing safe and efficient operation of the Lifting, Rigging and Yard Logistics teams in accordance with Corporate Goals, Policies, Quality Safety & amp, Environmental Management System, and International Standards.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships:

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Timely identification of hazards and risks in Lifting and Yard Logistics operations and implementation of mitigative and preventive solutions.

  • Proactive and cost-conscious approach for utilization of equipment and manpower.

  • Timely reporting of all work-related matters to GM Technical Services

  • Identification of improvement opportunities in Lifting and transportation operations to optimize cost and utilization and increase life cycle.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preside over daily operations and lead the implementation of safety and efficiency planning, & continuous improvement strategy.

  • Management of staff, including allocation of duties, competency training, leave roster and absence.

  • Support the Production & Project Managers with resource planning maximizing utilization & performance of facilities & resources.

  • Ensure facilities under department control are maintained in accordance with company policy and comply with government regulatory requirements if applicable.

  • Control department operational budget and develop budgetary & CAPEX forecasts.

  • Support the commercial department with tendering processes, business development and promotion of services.

  • Lead the development and continuous review of operating procedures within the department.

  • Work closely with HSE to engineer out potential hazards, to provide a safe working environment, for all employees.

  • Assist with R&D to ensure technological advancements are properly evaluated for improved ROI wherever practical.

  • Awareness/knowledge of applicable Regulations, National and International standards such as ISO, BS EN, ASME, LEEA, LOLER, and other recognizing bodies approved code of practice ACOP and ensure that lifting and rigging activities performed are compliant.

  • Provide guidance to his team in technical matters related to his scope.

  • Effective recruitment, selection, training, and certification of personnel; appraising performance; rewarding and counselling His / Her team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems with participation of Technical Services Management.

  • Ensure continual process improvement alongside an ethos that is committed to ensuring that performance expectations of all assets are continually met.

  • Other tasks as assigned by General Manager Technical Services.

Who we are looking for:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Construction, Marine Engineering, preferably with MBA degree.

  • Lack of such can be compensated by extensive years of experience in the field in leading roles.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15-18 years in a similar role within shipbuilding or equivalent industry.

  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role within shipbuilding or equivalent industry for non-bachelor’s degree holder.

Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations):

  • Appointed person in Lifting – LEEA Certified

  • Lifting certifications such as Rigger 1, Lifting supervisor are desirable.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Thorough understanding of Engineering, planning & executing of lifting services in accordance with international lifting standards & practice (Example: LOLER). Knowledge of ERP systems & Asset Management Systems.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and other lifting software is a plus.

  • The ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, across a broad range of technologies and implement training programs.

  • Resilient under stress and capable of managing competing priorities.

  • Articulate in his speech and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Be Physically active and able to complete a full medical assessment.

  • Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority.

  • Computer proficient with strong leadership skills.

Languages:

  • Excellent Communication Skills in English Language (primary form of communication)

  • A willingness to learn another language would be an advantage.
