Your future role

The primary role of the Construction Superintendent (Mechanical) is to ensure that all project fabrication, engineering, planning and construction related activities are carried out safely, effectively on time, on budget and in accordance with IMI Policies and Procedures. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Construction Manager will have full for the operational project delivery on site.

Your responsibilities

In conjunction with HSES and Mechanical Manager ensure that all aspects of the mechanical and pressure testing content of projects are executed safely and in compliance with HSES responsibilities.

Ensure that all mechanical and pressure testing activities are properly planned and that the plans and responsibilities are therein are passed to and understood by all concerned mechanical personnel.

Ensure that mechanical and pressure testing resources are effectively and efficiently utilized in accordance with the project schedule and budget. Ensure in conjunction with the Procurement Supply Chain Group that all materials and equipment are procured and delivered in accordance with the project’s contract requirements.

Effective and consistent interaction with other discipline supervisors, foreman, chargehands and work force around safety related issues.

Daily attendance at and at least 3x weekly delivery of TBT’s and implement one step back 5x5 per day is required. Update project managers on mechanical and pressure testing department works and schedules on a daily basis.

Monitor actual man-hours against budgeted man-hours and take appropriate steps to correct overruns. Assist customers with mechanical and pressure testing solutions. Ensure manpower requirements or shortfalls are reported to Mechanical Manager.

Ensure that all project materials are used as defined in procedures and manufacturer’s recommendations.

Ensure that all installation activities for the mechanical and pressure testing department are carried out in accordance with approved procedures.

In conjunction with HSES and Mechanical Manager ensure that all aspects of the mechanical and pressure testing content of projects are executed safely and in compliance with HSES responsibilities.

Liaise with the engineering department regarding the projects mechanical and pressure testing activities.

Liaise with other trades to ensure project schedule adherence. Liaise with Preservation engineer to ensure all project equipment is preserved as per LEL policy and procedure.

Strong involvement in weekly physical progress reporting through systems provided by the Planning Department.

Mechanical superintendent is responsible for ensuring their supervisors gather accurate physical progress.

Fully responsible for delivery of all Inspection Test Records (ITR’s) under the relevant discipline by effectively delegating to the foreman and chargehands.

This must be approached with a high focus on interfacing and coordination with all other discipline supervision to remove all blocks from achieving target dates.

Who we are looking for

• Min 10 yrs of experience in rig building industry including MODU/ jack-up rig / Liftboat new build projects. Hold similar position before in established global ship or marine orientated fabrication yards.

• A high standard of general education. 

• Excellent communication skills (oral + written) in the English language

• Manage the team to deliver first time, right quality across all disciplines, through the construction phases, mechanical completion and into commissioning using Project Controls. 
