Job Purpose
We are looking to hire Port Operations Manager,
This job role is to ensure The Port Operations Manager is leading two divisions: Basin operations division and Yard control Division. The position holder is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all IMI marine operations within IMI basin, berths & quayside, channel, and anchorage. The position holder is also responsible to manage the port control activities, VTS, Towage, pilotage, mooring and any cargo operations taking place. In addition, the position holder oversees the Load out Barge operations in term load out/in, float off/on of rig or vessels. Along with the accountability for the maintenance of the said assets through IMI’s Asset Management department, the position holder shall also ensure that IMI targets and goals are met by setting strong & challenging KPIs, ensuring full compliance with company policies, rules and regulations and upholding IMI’s values and safety standards.
Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships
Key Accountabilities:
The Port Operations Manager who will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Presides over daily operations leading to the implementation of safety and efficiency planning, & continuous
improvement of strategies. - Review mooring & berthing plans for safe securing of vessels and rigs within IMI jetties, sink pit and other
berthing facilities. - Proper coordinating and safe execution of all marine movements, mooring, unmooring and cargo operations.
- In charge of the movement and daily operation of IMI Load out Barge and other floating units operating within
the basin, including utility boats and pontoons. - Manage, control, and audit the work of third-party contractor providing diving services which involves UWILD,
seabed surveys, underwater tests & inspection and ROV operation if any. - Controls mooring/unmooring operations for ships & rigs including mooring during dry docking operations within
the facility. - Controls cargo operations including loading/off-loading cargos from vessels and storing of material within the
material wharf as needed. - Support internal & external stakeholders with planning for maximizing utilization & performance of facilities &
associated resources. - Ensure all port operations associated equipment including load out barge are maintained in accordance with
company policy and comply with regulatory requirements in coordination with the Asset Management
Department. - Build up the Port Operations divisions capabilities by developing its org. chart, manpower plan, roles and
responsibilities and job descriptions. - Build up the Port Operations division by developing, procedures, guidelines, manuals as required.
- Control allocated operational budget and assist with the development of budgetary/CAPEX forecasts.
- Support the Human Resources Department with effective recruitment & selection of personnel.
- Work closely with other Marine Operations stakeholders to ensure good communications and smooth
operations. - Work closely with HSE to engineer out potential hazards, to provide a safe working environment, for all
employees. - Manage the Yard Control centre planning marine movements within the Yard.
- Manage, control, and audit the work of third-party port operator providing the Pilotage, Towage, VTS, Port
control and other marine services. - Support the implementation of any new ISO standards within the function.
- Support the company in developing and reaching its sustainable goals and issuing its yearly sustainability
report. - Responsible for performing inspections of all equipment and assets under his divisions and making sure all are
in optimum working condition. - Promote and implement a strong safety culture for all Marine Operations and ensure that staff are properly
adhering to company safety regulations and are fully briefed on all safety requirements. - Contribute to the successful delivery of IMI Business plans.
- Responsible for identifying and managing appropriate training and development in the interest of quality of
service, customer satisfaction, health and safety and the personal development of individuals within the Port
Operations. - Represent IMI as required at internal or external meetings

Internal Interactions:
- Marine Operations Manager/Superintendents-Maintenance Manager/Superintendents-HSE Supervisors-M & E Shop Superintendent/Supervisors-Project Managers-Lifting & Rigging Superintendent.
External Interactions:
- Third-Party service providers to the Marine Operations.
Who we are looking for
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine engineering or equivalent marine STCW Qualification.
Experience:
- Over 15 years of experience in the marine industry, preferred to be an ex-mariner with Pilotage experience or equivalent
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations):
- Marine Open Pilot’s License is a plus.
- STCW Marine Officer Certifications is a plus.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Awareness of Marine Operation including Pilotage and towage processes.
- Awareness of VTS and Port control processes.
- Awareness of ERP systems.
- Awareness of relevant ISO standard, knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL, IALA & other marine regulations & conventions.
- Able to manage multi-disciplinary teams, across a broad range of technologies and implement training programs.
- Resilient under stress and capable of managing competing priorities
