Job Purpose

We are looking to hire Project Planner,

This job role is to ensure

•  Develops the most appropriate economic models and engineering methods for projects.
• Create and update Project Execution Plans: Deciding on proper engineering techniques and milestone sequences for each project stage.
• Ensure that the resource requirements for all projects form part of the conceptual plan.
• Ensure conceptual project plan templates are updated.
• Develop and provide realistic conceptual schedules and resource plans for all projects.
• Risk management on all project plans/schedules.
• Set targets for activities based on each phase of a project plan and ensure it meets Client's specifications.
• Make estimations for timescales and costs using specialized design software packages.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:

The Project Planner who will be responsible for but not limited to:

• • Project Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor day-to-day work progress for a project and provide accurate weekly and monthly reports by swiftly communicating potential progress delays or project slippages.
• Identify and manage deviation from conceptual project plans and performance requirements and take necessary action and communicate to lead project manager.
• Ensure all contractor plans / schedules are analysed and fits into the IMI conceptual Project Execution Plan.
• Study the impact of alternative approaches and advice.
• Perform Project Coordination: Make sure complex projects are handled on time and on budget by overseeing the project planning, inventory services, cost control, team leadership, and project management.
• Analyse expenses and identify opportunities to save cost.
• Manage Stakeholder and Team Communication: Work closely with others involved in a project and direct the daily workload of subordinate team members.
• Attend crucial meetings and provide current status updates to vendors, supervisors, and other stakeholders
• Managing overall project communications; provide and deliver on all project management information needed to ensure project success.
• Drive Process Improvement: Driving continuous improvement by working with leadership teams; identify gaps in key performance areas and plan activities to increase overall project efficiency.
• Provide guidance and deliver schedules to facilitate project execution strategy.
• Assist Division Head Project & Control for developing planning and control procedures, standards and ensures schedule and cost compliance.
• Resource planning & forecasting.
• Analyse delay trends and provide mitigation plans.
• Controls and tracking the Engineering change management.
• Assist the department manager to establish and monitor department KPIs.
• Manage engineering status and progress reports – weekly / monthly.
• Interface with current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track.
• Represent engineering project planning & control function at senior management forums.
• Consolidation of engineering manhour estimate for bids.
• Progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
• Attend project review meetings.
• Prepare and compile input from team members and various weekly reports.
• Responsible for change management and trend notifications.
• Monitor budget compliance of design deliverable production.
• Activity planning, work assignment, work scheduling and monitoring. Inter disciplinary checks & co-ordination.
• Support and coordinate project management through analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• To follow up project status of the ongoing projects and assist Division Head Project Planning & Controls on day-to-day business.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of the engineering deliverables for the discipline and compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) responsibilities.
• Engineering Project Planning & Controls - 80% of the time approx.
• Coordination / communication (internal and external) - 20% of the time approx.
• Progress of project deliverables / commitments – 10% of the time approx.

Working Relationships:

Internal Interactions: 

• Internal Engineering Department, other business work-streams within the company, Division Heads, Engineering Manager, GM Engineering, VP Engineering.

External Interactions:

• Engineering Subcontractors, Consultants, Planning and Schedule related.

Who we are looking for

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Equivalent.

Experience:

• 8 + years in lead role within Engineering department in related industries

Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations):

• Preferred – any additional certification courses in Project Management and Planning.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

• Working experience in engineering project control with background in planning (both schedule and cost).

• Exposure to planning software like PRIMAVERA / MS PROJECT.

• Expert knowledge in MS EXCEL.

• Good understanding of engineering processes and ERP system.

• Ability to understand & work through complex planning issues in support of ever evolving business needs.

• Excellent communication skills (oral & written) in the English language.

• Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment.

• Good presentation skill.
