Your future role & Job Purpose:

We are looking to hire Environmental Specialist, who will be responsible for but not limited to:

This job role is to ensure that IMI’s environmental strategy is executed in accordance with set schedules / standards and assist in facilitating ongoing regulatory compliance with all applicable legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements and obligations. Personnel will work closely with site supervisors to ensure corporate HSE targets and objectives are met.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Promote environmental awareness through proper communication of IMI environmental policies, standards and procedures to the workers in order to enable compliance.
  • Monitor compliance to IMI environmental standards, processes and procedures and provide necessary feedback/advice to line supervision/management team and HSE department.
  • Take an active role in conducting, monitoring, and implementing control processes for environmental aspects including waste management, environmental impact assessment (EIA), environmental permit to operate documentation/auditing as mandated by the government environmental authority (National Center for Environmental Compliance).
  • Assist frontline supervisors in ensuring environmental regulations are well delivered to the workforce on the pollution control measures of IMI operations and ensure that records are maintained.
  • Participate and encourage active participation of the workers including but not limited to identification of environmental aspects, spillage incidents, waste violations, regulatory inspections, audits, pollution mitigation measures, environmental monitoring, awareness campaigns, and HSE meetings.
  • Carry out regular inspections of work areas, ensure that deficiencies are immediately reported/followed up and recorded as per IMI environmental procedure.
  • Lead and participate in HSE audits of IMI onsite and offsite processes/activities in order to check on their compliance with local and international standards and company reference documents.
  • Assist and participate in emergency drills and during real emergency situations within IMI operational areas.
  • Lead incident investigations, compilation of incident reports and dissemination of lessons learned to the workers.
  • Ensure that assets and operational activities are identified, handled, maintained and disposed of in compliance with relevant IMI environmental policies and procedures.
  • Collate and submit HSE reports to Snr. Environmental Specialist on daily, weekly or monthly basis as required, and compile data pertaining to Environmental, Social and Governance reporting to be published on a yearly basis.
  • Carry out any other duties as instructed by HSE supervisor(s)/Leads, actively contribute to the achievement of corporate and departmental KPIs by ensuring that required IMS-related documented information are maintained and available to the appropriate persons/group.
Who we are looking for:
  • BSc in Environmental Science or relevant discipline.
  • Nationally or internationally recognized accreditations related to the field of environment/sustainability (i.e. LEED, ENVISION, MOSTADAM, ESTEDAMAH, CEM… etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with site management team, clients and other parties, peers and workforce.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify unsafe acts/practices and conditions and suggest control/mitigating measures.
  • Ability to identify and implement HSE control processes to support the attainment of organizational HSE objectives, KPIs and deliverables.
  • Ability to react appropriately in emergency situations and work calmly under pressure.
  • Knowledge of applicable local and international regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Competent understanding and communication of IMI HSE management systems and their implementation in respect to industrial / maritime yards and project operations.
  • Possess working knowledge or undergone training in incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Successfully completed Basic First Aid, Basic Fire & Rescue and Authorized Gas Testing Training. Good communication and presentation skills.
