Self- Propelled Modular Trailer (SPMT) Operator
  • SPMT operator responsible for managing safe and efficient lifting or transfer operations in accordance with Company Policy, Quality Safety & Environmental Management System, and International Standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Read and understand transport drawing then setup the SPMT configuration accordingly.
  • Following typical Manufacture methods, builds trailers using basic hand tools to prepare for heavy hauling
  • Ensures all components and the SPMT systems as a whole are in good working condition
  • Troubleshoots any issues seen with the trailers which do not conform to typical, approved Manufacture methods.
  • Assemble, disassemble, set, and configure (mechanically and electronically), operate the SPMT (Scheuerle) in any configuration and in any cargo type / weight, as per manufacture specifications
  • Operate the SPMT on Shipyard roads, on ground, on floating vessel and during load out / load in operations.
  • Check and maintain the efficiency of the SPMT, execute regular maintenance, and execute problem shooting
  • Responsible for the daily and weekly control and maintenance of the SPMT 
  • Reads and understands hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Adjusts trailers to ensure even distribution of weight across all axles, even over rough terrain
  • Reports to various work sites as directed by the SPMT supervisor, dispatcher, or Superintendent on – time and ready to operate SPMT equipment or other assigned duties
  • Has working knowledge of rigging and lashing and is able to perform basic rigging responsibilities 
  • Able to independently position equipment in required/desired spots with or without a load
  • Assists with jacking, pumping, carriage, winch and weighing work before, during and after move.
  • Has basic knowledge of engineering drawings and is able to ensure that loads, loading methods, load securing, and load transport comply with the plan
  • Capable of performing and checking rigging and lashing done on the SPMT and the load, to ensure that the move can be performed safely for personnel, load and equipment
  • Operate the SPMT to execute Transport operation, SPMT assembly and reconfiguration under foreman supervision in line with SPMT operation manual, charts, Transport supervisor instruction, and approved Transport drawing.
  • Ability to operate / assemble / reconfigure the SPMT according to the operation manual, under guidance of supervisor.
  • Fills out the daily operations SPMT / transport checklist before any operation.
  • Controls SPMT movements in response to hand signals or radio commands by certified L&R / Transport supervisors, Foremen, or operators. 
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of SPMT/PPU equipment. Ensures proper licensing and inspections are kept current and coordinates the necessary maintenance and repairs of equipment with L&R / Transport supervisor and maintenance Dept.
  • Ensure the safe and effective utilization of SPMT equipment.
  • Make sure that all SPMT equipment is maintained in proper working order.
  • Make sure that the required care and maintenance is accomplished on SPMT equipment/parts.
  • Stop unsafe Transport activity and report any potential hazards to L&R / Transport supervisor, and safety team.
  • Support the Production & Project supervisor with planned transport activity.
  • Provides input for daily work sheets / SPMT time sheet for each project. 28. Awareness/knowledge of applicable Regulations, National and International standards
  • Ensuring that all requirements / documents / permits are available before executing the transport.
  • Must be able to work in a standard field environment (being aware of your surroundings and operations going on around you, SPMT size and required area for transport operation)
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Foreman
Experience
  • 8+ years of working experience in SPMT operation and Transportation industries,
  • 5 Years of SPMT operating • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical schematics and basic repairs
  • Capable of reading and understanding hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Capable of reading and understanding engineered drawings
  • Experience working with Scheuerle and Kamag SPMT and have basic knowledge about SPMT Maintenance.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Hold valid 3rd party certificate to operate SPMT crane.
  • Have SPMT written and practical training from world recognize training center in SPMT operation / maintenance.
  • Lifting certificates / rigging training would be advantageous
