HSE Lifting Inspection Supervisor
  •  HSE / Inspection Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Lifting, Rigging and M&E works are performed according Safely, in compliance with Integrated Management System and International Standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Performance indicators:

  1. Identification and mitigation of HSE hazards and risks in Technical Services operations.
  2. Organization of timely inspection of lifting, rigging and other equipment that requires periodic inspections.
  3. Establishing safety culture amongst Technical Services crew members and IMI as a whole

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Accountable and Responsible for taking initiatives to implement HSE and Lifting Inspection requirements in Technical Services Department works and striving to continuously improve IMI’s health, safety, and environmental performance.
  2. Work closely with Technical Services team to engineer out potential hazards, to provide a safe working environment, for all employees.
  3. Organize and manage the team of safety officers, crane, lifting and rigging equipment inspectors and contractors to perform their duties in ensuring safety and compliance.
  4. Awareness/knowledge of applicable Regulations, National and International standards such as NEBOSH, LEEA, LOLER and communicate relevant points to the team.
  5. Provide lifting HSE expertise and guidance to lifting superintendents, supervisors, riggers and operators
  6. Responsible for ensuring that all the requirements (which include method statement, risk assessment, Lifting, rigging study and permits to work) are adequate for the job and valid.
  7. Conduct team meetings for HSE awareness and TS Inductions for new comers. 
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  9. Monitor safety performance of the team members and nominate best performers for management recognition.
  10. Ensure that all lifting and rigging tools being used on sites are within their SWL, duly certified and operational.
  11. Work with AMMO maintenance teams to perform required repairs of Technical Services equipment and/or invite 3rd Party inspection teams when needed.
  12. Support department management as required in effective recruitment, selection, training, and certification of personnel; appraising performance; rewarding and counselling His / Her team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems with participation of Technical Services Management. 
  13. Ensure continual process improvement across all operations of Technical Services.
Experience
  • 6+ years experience in a similar role within shipbuilding or construction industry for Engineering Degree holders
  • 12 years experience in a similar role within shipbuilding or construction industry for Diploma holders
  • Needs to be either a Safety Leader with experience in Lifting or a Lifting Leader with background in Safety.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree Or Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Construction, Marine Engineering or equivalent 
  • Should have NEBOSH International General Certificate.
  • Appointed person in Lifting – LEEA Certified (preferred).
  • English will be the primary form of communication

  • Arabic is strong advantage

  1. Thorough understanding of Engineering, planning & executing of lifting services in accordance with international lifting standards & practice (Example: LOLER).
  2. Knowledge of QHSE Management systems
  3. The ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, across a broad range of technologies and implement training programs.
  4. Resilient under stress and capable of managing competing priorities.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  6. Be Physically active and able to complete a full medical assessment.
  7. Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority
  8. Computer proficient with strong leadership skills.
  9. Analytic thinking skills, ability to perform Root Cause Analysis.
