Your future role

Commissioning Manager is responsible for the control & administration of all elements relating to the testing & validation process for High Integration Equipment, ensuring that it is implemented according to design specifications, standards, Company Policy, and Quality Management system.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and manage, in conjunction with other facilities, a preventative maintenance program for mechanical and certified equipment.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) procedures and responsibilities.
• Management of key relationships between the Group and its customers, suppliers, and employees.
• Cooperate and coordinate with other IMI facilities to ensure that potential synergies are realized and to avoid the potential inefficient duplication of assets and resources.
• Ensure yard operations comply with Free Zone, Port, and other applicable external authority regulations
• Manage the process of defining the project requirements for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up / handover.
• Provide first line contact with project managers, class surveyor, client site team, local and offshore vendors to ensure all commissioning requirements are meeting class and project specifications and are in keeping with Company procedures.
• Prepare, chair and minute commissioning meetings with the project team, client and vendors when required.
• Prepare, chair and minute daily commissioning permit meetings and sign as approving authority, ensuring safety of both personnel and plant.
• Manage the commissioning team and ensure that the commissioning personnel are fully aware of the procedures and their responsibilities on site
• Ensure that all the testing equipment is calibrated, and all required tools and equipment are available at site.
• Attend factory acceptance tests when and where required.
• Prepare pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures for all systems to class and client ensuring that all procedures are approved prior to commissioning commencingز
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning of all systems, including any trouble shooting.  Find solutions to problems arising during internal testing of systems and ensure that all the systems are performing fully as per design and specification before offering to clients and class for customer acceptance testing.
• Liaise with equipment manufacturers, onsite and offsite commissioning engineers for information exchange and trouble shooting.
• Manage the daily operation of the commissioning activities including all system start-ups and monitor consumables such as diesel, lubricants, fresh water, power, and cooling requirements.
• Work in conjunction with the production team to effectively achieve the requirements of the project.
• Analyze and develop new methods to improve existing testing procedures and commissioning plans.
• The operation of the lock out / tag out (energization / isolation) procedure prepared by safety.
• Ensure that QA/QC completes all the relevant (ITRs) Inspection Test Records and punch lists before offering the system for acceptance testing to clients and assist the construction team in punch list clearance.
• Assist with actioning warranty issues and liaise with clients, projects, and vendors to close them out, as required.
• Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out safely.
• Coordinate surveys and ensure the presence of owner, class surveyors, OEM, and production personnel during commissioning.
• Analyzing the installation and operational manuals and presenting the systems to surveyor in coordination with service engineers if applicable.
Who we are looking for
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering with At least 10 – years of experience working in a Shipyard.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills are essential. Fluency in Arabic beneficial. 
  • Capable of supervising installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of mechanical equipment (pumps, engines, mud pumps, top drive, drawworks, etc.).
  • Ensure that pre-commissioning/commissioning activities and mechanical completions are in accordance with project schedule and completion & closeout procedures & policies
