Your future role & Job Purpose

We are looking to hire PTW Controllers, who will be responsible for but not limited to:

This job role is to ensure that IMI integrated management system (IMS) is executed in accordance with set schedules / standards and assist in facilitating ongoing regulatory compliance with all applicable legal, contractual and regulatory requirements and obligations. Personnel will work closely with site supervisors to ensure corporate HSE targets and objectives are met.


Key Accountabilities

• Promote PTW awareness through proper communication of IMI HSE policies, standards and procedures to the workers in order to enable compliance.
• Monitor compliance to IMI HSE standards, processes and procedures and provide necessary feedback/advice to line supervision/management team and HSE department.

• Work with site supervisors/managers to ensure simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) are well managed to avoid any conflicts in operations.

• Facilitate effective Permit to Work (PTW) coordination meetings with site supervisors, contractors and clients.

• Verify that appropriate and effective control measures are in place before PTW are issued by the Issuing Authority.

• Work closely with site supervisors to resolve on-site operational conflicts that may hinder the effective implementation of the PTW system.

• Ensure strict compliance, proper administration, documentation and auditing of the PTW system through the electronic PTW system - Operational Safety Management (OSM).

• Take an active role in conducting, monitoring and implementing hazard control processes including Task    Risk Assessments (TRAs), Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox meetings.

• Assist frontline supervisors in ensuring pre-task toolbox talks are well delivered to the workforce on the control measures identified in risk assessments/safe systems of work and ensure that records are maintained.

• Participate and encourage active participation of the workers in OH&S programs including but not limited to hazard identification, inspections, audits, awareness campaigns and OH&S meetings.

• Carry out regular inspections of work areas, ensure that deficiencies are immediately reported/followed up and recorded as per IMI hazard reporting procedure.

• Lead and participate in HSE audits of IMI onsite and offsite processes/activities to check on their compliance with local and international standards and company reference documents.

• Assist and participate in emergency drills and during real emergency situations within IMI operational areas.

• Participate/Lead incident investigations, compilation of incident reports and dissemination of lessons learned to the workers.

• Collate and submit HSE/PTW reports to Project HSE/PTW Supervisor/Lead on daily, weekly or monthly basis as required.

• Carry out any other duties as instructed by HSE/PTW supervisor(s)/Leads, actively contribute to the achievement of corporate and departmental KPIs by ensuring that required

Who we are looking for
  • BSc in Safety or relevant discipline. 
  • Minimum of 3-6/+ years’ experience in in a similar role within the GCC or in a reputable shipyard.
  • NVQ OH&S Level 3, educated to secondary school level. 
  • Attained or working towards obtaining the NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Internal auditor (OH&S / EMS) 
  • Possess working knowledge of PTW system relevant in the maritime/shipbuilding industry.
  • Ability to communicate with site management team, clients and other parties, peers and workforce.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify unsafe acts/practices and conditions and suggest control/mitigating measures.
  • Ability to identify and implement HSE control processes to support the attainment of organizational HSE objectives, KPIs and deliverables.
  • Ability to react appropriately in emergency situations and work calmly under pressure.
  • Knowledge of applicable local and international regulations, standards and best practices.
  • Competent understanding and communication of IMI HSE management systems and their implementation in respect to industrial / maritime yards and project operations.
  • Possess working knowledge or undergone training in incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Successfully completed Basic First Aid, Basic Fire & Rescue and Authorized Gas Testing Training.
  • Knowledge of the requirements as an IRCA auditor of the international standards such as ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015,
    ISO 55001:2014, ISO 31000:2018.
