JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
  • To work closely together with the Production / Welding supervisor to ensure that all assigned projects works are executed safely, on time, and within budget in accordance with the contract and IMI's Management System. 

  •  The candidate must be able to work collaboratively with other trades and effectively communicate results and concerns 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Ensure all welding assigned works are executed safely on time.
  • Ensure that all technical drawings, weld symbols and documentation, such as WPS, Weld Maps and PQR is followed.
  • Determining the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
  • When engaging in any activity, ensure that to have a valid work permit (Hot/Cold/Isolation, etc.,) and attend safety and daily toolbox meetings.
  • Perform the welding according to the specific codes and following the drawings.
  • Monitor materials usage to ensure possible shortages are identified and addressed at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Ability and follow pre welding preparations and examine finished welds and ensure they meet standards for excellence.
  • Inspect the equipment, materials and maintaining tools, performing pre-welding preparations welding components according to specifications and diligently following safety regulations.
  • Examining completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth, and functional.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) responsibilities.
Other Information
  • Familiar with the common welding types: shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW / MIG), and gas tungsten arc gas welding (GTAW / TIG) and FCAW.
  • 3G, 4G, and 6G/6GR qualified.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards.
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with welding equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (such as face- shield, gloves etc.,)
  • Understanding of various welding processes, Weld symbols, Weld maps, as well as cutting and grinding and gouging operations.
  • Good oral communication skills in English.
